Lions roar into the new season

A commanding all-round performance sets the tone as the Lions open their 2026/27 campaign in style.

The Lions could not have asked for a better start to the 2026/27 season, delivering a complete team performance in front of a strong home crowd.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, the top order laid a commanding platform before the middle order accelerated through the back end of the innings. With bat and ball firing, the Lions never looked back.

The bowling unit backed it up superbly, applying pressure from the first over and sharing the wickets around. The fielding was sharp and the energy in the group was clear for all to see.

"This is exactly the standard we want to set," said the captain after the match. "But it's one game — the real work is staying consistent all season."

The Lions are back in action next weekend. Come down and support the navy and gold.
