Sri Lankan New Year Festival 2027

A family celebration of Aluth Avurudda — the Sinhala & Tamil New Year — with traditional games, cultural performances, food stalls, music and community fun.

The Sri Lankan New Year Festival is the biggest cultural celebration on the Lions calendar — a day where the whole community comes together to welcome Aluth Avurudda, the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

Expect traditional avurudu games for all ages (kotta pora, kamba adeema, and the ever-popular pillow fight on the pole), vibrant cultural performances, and authentic Sri Lankan food stalls serving kavum, kokis, milk rice and more.

There will be live music, children's activities, and a warm welcome for everyone — members, families, and friends of the club. Entry is free and all are welcome.
